Sekyen Dadik

Executive Director, AMDF

Sekyen Dadik is a journalist and media development professional from Nigeria, currently serving as the Executive Director of the Africa Media Development Foundation (AMDF). With a strong focus on development and advocacy journalism, she leads initiatives that strengthen media practice, support press freedom, and build the capacity of journalists across Africa.

Dadik has trained journalists in key areas such as investigative reporting, peace journalism, and accountability-focused storytelling. Before joining AMDF’s leadership in 2023, she worked as a reporter with the Peoples Daily Newspaper and New Nigeria Newspapers, where she gained extensive field experience in news reporting and public-interest journalism.

She holds an M.Sc. in Conflict Management and Peace Studies and a B.A. in Mass Communication, grounding her work at the intersection of media, conflict resolution, and civic engagement. A committed advocate for journalists’ safety and freedom, Dadik has been active in honoring and remembering media professionals who have disappeared or suffered harm in the line of duty, including the late investigative journalist Bagauda Kaltho.

She continues to champion a resilient and ethical media landscape across the continent.
