Joseph Edegbo

Managing Editor, Africa Prime News Publications

Joseph Edegbo is a veteran Nigerian journalist and media practitioner whose career spans over five decades across military service, broadcast journalism, and digital media. He began his public service in 1969 with the Nigerian Armed Forces, serving in the Army Corps of Signals during and after the Civil War, where he trained extensively in radio communications. In 1980, he voluntarily exited the military and joined the Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria (FRCN) to establish and manage its wireless communication network.

A year later, Edegbo transitioned fully into journalism, embarking on a distinguished career that took him across Nigeria as a roving correspondent and later rising to the position of Controller News before his retirement in 2010. His reporting took him through Kaduna, Enugu, Benin, Lagos, and across the South East, South South, and South West—building a legacy of disciplined, objective, and principled journalism.

Edegbo remains active in the media space. He is Managing Editor of Africa Prime News, a Nigeria-based online platform dedicated to independent, ethical, and development-focused journalism across Africa.
