Alabi-Akande’s professional background includes working as a correspondent and editor at Daily Trust, where she reported on issues of public concern. Her work reflects a commitment to using journalism not only to inform the public but also to investigate systemic challenges, amplify underreported voices, and encourage constructive responses to development problems.
Her contributions to journalism have received notable recognition. In 2016, she won the Africa Media Development Foundation (AMDF) Journalist of the Year Award.
In 2025, she won the overall prize in the Female Reporters Leadership Programme (FRLP), organised by the Wole Soyinka Centre for Investigative Journalism. The award recognised her two-part investigative series examining how poverty and police extortion can prevent families of sexually abused children in Lagos State from accessing justice.
At the 10th Africa Conference on Development Journalism (ACDJ), Alabi-Akande brings experience in investigative reporting, editorial leadership and development-focused media practice. Her work offers valuable perspectives on how journalists can combine rigorous investigation, ethical reporting and solutions-oriented storytelling to strengthen accountability and contribute to inclusive development.
